Re: Konig solo
Yes, Kim Newcombe. Used to have his engines done at Doug Willeys at Mundford (late British hydroplane champion) as did George O'Dell and us.

Re: Konig solo
This is not the bike that Kim Newcombe rode, this was built many years after his death. His machine had a tubular frame, not a Deltabox.
Kim Newcombe did all his own engine work and development at the Konig factory where Dieter Konig employed him to do this.

Re: Konig solo
I stand corrected then, Howard. Only what Doug told us. Unfortunately he is no longer with us to verify.

Re: Konig solo
Hi Pappa...Hi Howard...yes this machine is very nice but not authentic/original
About ten years ago Dieter Busch put me in touch with a guy in North Germany
who had a frame made on the original jig. He made me one and also supplied a
set of original fibreglass ie tank, seat, fairing.
Thanks to you Howard you finished it complete with exhausts, etc, but instead of keeping it
I sold it [what a plonker Rodney!]

Re: Konig solo
I'm not sure if the attachment posted in the original post is showing up, so I have converted the PDF file and uploaded it here; it is very different to the Newcombe Konig, and the replica which you had, Dick.

Re: Konig solo
This bike was the one which Dick mentions above; using a replica frame kit based on the original Kim Newcombe Konig solo; a much different configuration to the later Deltabox framed machine.
Re: Konig solo
A good friend of mine bought a very interesting konig solo from Ireland in the late 1980s when it arrived he invited me to help unload it from his van.
when we lifted it into his workshop inside the fairing was a spare engine, Jim my friend bought the bike purely for the wheels/brakes but on close inspection it checked out to be the Kim Newcombe konig .He did not brake the bike up but sold it to a collector in Italy where I presume it still is.?

would the delta box be eligible to race at the Classic TT?
