Just heard on local news they are going to spend £7m and 18 months restoring Brooklands,,just about to rush into the shed to start building a replica Freddie Dixon,Douglas banking sidecar outfit,unless anyones got one lying about they aren't using :lol: :lol:

What are they going to do. Knock the shops and houses down?

According to the TV some of the money will be spent on moving the wartime hangars off the track

There's more than that. Tesco? Housing estate.
It looks OK from above, you can see the outline, til you go to Street view.
I guess they're just got concentrate on one end. Again.

I suppose it was too much to expect that this country would preserve the world`s first purpose built racing circuit in its entirety,what a pity, Brooklands holds a few firsts, the worlds first suspension bridge, over the River Wey(quite short)the only (I think) racing circuit with its own mortuary,although in its history I think only 3 fatalities and I think no motorcycle deaths ,also in the 20`s you could take a flight up in a plane and circle round London all for half a crown (I remember it well) :lol:
If you want a bash round a banked circuit you will have to go to Paris and go to Montlhery,although the surface is in a bit of a state at least the French have preserved it.
