Sidecar at Braddon Bridge - ID team?

Unread post by saluki1968 »

I believe this photo was at Braddon Bridge, in 2014 (13?). Any help on who this team is?

Are you sure it's Braddan? I don't think it is. The kerbstone is chamfered at Braddan.

That's a lot older than 2013.

If it's older than 2103, then it could be Braddan as the kerbstone was chamfered when the road layout was revamped to use the oak tree as a roundabout. At a guess I'd say the road work was carried out about 12 to 14 years ago.

Could it possibly be Franco Martinell & (the late) Mario Fatorrelli at TT 1988? They were listed at #32 in the programme, and the outfit waiting to set off from the line looks remarkably similar in this picture :?:

Right person different date as the fairing is slightly different and passenger in different leathers and helmet.

Those FM helmets came out mid to late 80s so 88 sounds about right ?
The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight.

But they, while their companions slept, were toiling upwards in the night.

I'm only going by the attached "title" on the photo as found on the web, which was "tt-Sidecar-negotiating-Braddan-Bridge-pic-Paul-Mckelvie", date posted was july 2014. That's all the info I have.

Driver -Franko Martinelli
Passenger - Kevin Morgan

Dad rode at the TT with Franko for two years (I think it was two) in the mid 80's. Can't help you with the exact year or where.

It was in 1987.
They finished 32nd the first race and retired during the second one.
The chassis was made by Franco, as usual.

The winners of the first one were Mick Boddice and Don Williams with an Ireson Yamaha.
And the second one was won by Lowry Burton and Pat Cushnahan (Kenny Howles and Steve Pointer 2nd)
