Mallory Park 27.03.2015.
Over the last six months or so I have spent quite a lot of time with two of the greatest and most popular world champions that Great Britain has ever produced, Tony Hewitt and Steve Webster. In the time they were together they took themselves from ordinary, through extraordinary all the way to that accolade ‘Legendary’!
I’ve enjoyed interviewing these guys, all the time amazed at the humbleness of these down to earth, kind gentlemen.
They last raced together in 1989 when they won their third and final world championship and later they were awarded MBE’s by the Queen for services to motor sport.
Many of you who follow SideCar Radio will know that The British Historic Racing club is holding a test day for its members, on that day members of the public who have an interest in competing in the BEARs Sidecar championship are invited to come and try a modern big wheel sidecar. This is FREE of charge but there is an insurance premium of £13 per person.
Steve and Tony have generously agreed to come and ride my BEARs sidecar. This will be the first time that they have been on an outfit together for twenty-six years. Today on the telephone Steve Webster said ‘Tony and I are greatly looking forward to getting that bike into sixth round Gerard’s!’ I didn’t like to tell him that it only has five!
If your interested in sidecars, if your interested in motor sport, if your interested in watching history being made or if you just want a great day out, come with us to see these legends back on track at one of Britain’s best loved venues ‘the friendly circuit’ Mallory Park.
If you would like to take part in the BEARs big wheel sidecar experience call David Sykes on 0116 2876119.
