BMW oil starvation
Question to all you BMW Vintage sidecar builders/racers from sunny Arizona, USA.........except for the dry-sump system what needs to be done in the oil sump to keep the oil around the pick-up to prevent oil-starvation on cornering?????????????

Re: BMW oil starvation
Bob, Move the oil pick up to the left (to the centre or a little more) and lower it to between 4 and 6mm from the floor of the sump. + a baffle plate across the sump at the bolting face with the drain holes on the centre line fore and aft and carry a little more oil. Or there is an external unit which carry's engine oil pressured by the pump which is activated when engine oil pressure drops with cornering forces and is replenished on the straight's.

Re: BMW oil starvation
Heres a wet sump I used to do in conjuction with a baffle plate. Because the rotating parts are a long way from the oil level you can run 3.6l. I made a batch of ten and the only problems I had were when they didnt run enough oil
Oil starvation can also be caused by cavataion the BM road bike red lines at 6500 rpm so when your reving it to 8500 the oil pump cant fill as it is wiping the ports to quick. So the mod is to thin down the oil rotors and use a packer back plate.
