Report from Barry Nutley.. I'll hold back posting this to the front as usually the Rt. Hon. John Mushet PSP (Photograher of Sidecar People) sends photos to accompany the report.

Triple victory and lap record for AOS Be Wiser
A thrilling qualifying gave Andy Peach and Charlie Richardson (L&W Kawasaki) a fractional advantage of just two hundredths of a second over the AOS Be Wiser Kawasaki duo of Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood. Row two was headed off by Steve Kershaw/Rob Wilson (Express Tyres/Blinkbonny Kawasaki) with Ben Holland and Lee Watson (Finning Cat Kawasaki) joining them.

Race One – Peach headed the charge from the lights with Stevens in hot pursuit. Behind them, local boys Holland and Watson were fending off the Scottish contingent of Kershaw and Wilson. Ben Bygrave and Carl Morgan (Bygrave Racing Suzuki) again showed their pace, but were to fade as the race went on, with Morgan feeling the effects of a hard, fast Thruxton. There were no such issues with Gary Horspole they upped the pace to claim fourth when Holland/Watson went out with a head gasket problem. The AOS Be Wiser pair went ahead on lap four, and set a new lap record on their way to victory number five. Peach/Richardson and Kershaw/Wilson completed the podium. Rupert Archer and Steve Thomas (Hannafin Suzuki) had a brilliant ride to a career best fifth.

Result – 1/ Stevens/Charlwood, 2/ Peach/Richardson, 3/ Kershaw/Wilson, 4/ Horspole/Connell, 5/ Archer/Thomas, 6/ Bryan/Winn (Santander Salt Kawasaki), 7/ Bygrave/ Morgan, 8/Drowne/Pilmoor Brady.

Race Two – This was another demonstration of the future of British F1 sidecar racing, with the young AOS Be Wiser pair seemingly invincible. Stevens and Charlwood hit the front from the word go, and pulled out a second a lap in a brilliant display on home soil. Andy Peach had a left hand problem which hampered him, but he stayed the pace to fend off a growing challenge from the flying Scotsmen, Kershaw and Wilson. Behind them, Ben Holland and Lee Watson gained momentum, moving past a very rapid Gary Horspole into fourth. Tony Brown and Lee Cain (Paymundo.com Kawasaki) also claimed the scalp of Horspole and Connell to finish fifth.

Result – 1/ Stevens/Charlwood, 2/ Peach/Richardson, 3/ Kershaw/Wilson, 4/ Holland/Watson, 5/ Brown/Cain, 6/ Horspole/Connell, 7/ Archer/Thomas, 8/ Drowne/Pilmoor-Brady.

Race Three – Could the Be Wiser Kawasaki team make it three in a row? Well Andy Peach meant business as he once again grabbed the initiative from the off. Another cracking start by Ben Holland put him a strong position as he scrapped tooth and nail with the Kershaw/Wilson outfit. It was not long before Stevens and Charlwood resumed control, as Peach struggled with the trapped nerve affecting his right hand. Meanwhile, Tony Brown and Manxman Lee Cain began to make inroads on the leaders and went into third place with two laps remaining. Kershaw was relegated to fourth, and then out went Holland/Watson with yet more mechanical issues. Gary Horspole proved that his earlier results were no fluke with another strong fifth place ahead of a brave Ben Bygrave/Carl Morgan. At the flag, Steven’s winning margin was over ten seconds. Will there be any answer to this dynamic duo? Well – it’s onwards to Assen to find out.

Result – 1/ Stevens/Charlwood, 2/ Peach/Richardson, 3/ Brown/Cain, 4/ Kershaw/Wilson, 5/ Horspole/Connell, 6/ Bygrave/Morgan, 7/ Drowne/Pilmoor-Brady, 8/ Archer/Thomas

Championship Standings – Stevens/Charlwood 260, Peach/Richardson187.5 Holland/Watson Lovelock/Aalto 107, Brown/Cain 102.5, Horspole/Connell 88, Guy/Evanson 70.5

Round Eight comes from Assen 18-20th September
