Derbyshire ??? NO ! It's a Rumble chassis !

If it's the same bike - and it certainly looks a lot like it (even the tank strap looks the same) - I would guess it had a Suzuki fitted when Derek built it - Derek used Suzuki's for many years (after the BSA's) - as far as I know - the next owners were Mal & Ron who live near to me - I can remember being at a 3 sisters meeting (would be late 1987) - Derek was racing his long outfit - Mal & Ron were helping us at the time - and mentioned to Derek that they were looking for an outfit - and of course - Derek said he had just the thing sat at home...
A GPZ900 was fitted to it when they bought it - and served them well for a couple of seasons until they bought another bike off Derek (a long bike this time)
I'm not sure how Derek is these days - I spoke to him on the phone last year - I think he had been ill just before then - although we always get a Xmas card off him - Mal phones him quite often - I'll mention this thread to Mal (he doesn't do web - yet) - and try to find out how Derek is...
The photo I posted was one that Mal had brought over just last weekend - Mal has a good collection of photos - when they were racing he was rarely without his camera - if I ever find the time to scan some of them - I will get them put up in my photo Gallery...

I'm not really sure that the sidecar on your photo is mine :
The tubes over the top of the engine on my sidecar, seems to be original, but on your photo, there are not these tubes.
It had the same handle near the side wheel, there are still traces of welding, and the back handle is the same, but the other one near the fuel tank is different.
The mounting of the rear shock absorber's head is different.

But the frame is really similar, so now we are 99,9% sure that it's a Rumble chassis.

When I was searching informations about Derek Rumble, I've seen that he used to use Suzuki engines... but the honda pc25's engine appear well installed in the chassis and the fixing points seems not to be modified. I'll go to look at with more accurately.

I was talking to Derek at the Ormskirk motorfest about a month ago, he had a run out on an A65 he built I know he also built a short one with a yam in it because we talking about it. I think Gordons pic is the the same bike, the original pics I would say the top tubes are replacements

I don't know if the Rumble issue was ever resolved!, but Derek has always lived in the same house (since c1973)

dont no a lot about the history. I purchased it of chap that came into work believing it to be a Derbyshire. He got it in a job lot deal of an old boy. I never did find out who, grant is more on the money id say. Steve Broadstock more than likely shed some light on it,

its not one of John Derbyshire's, sure on that the the build around the brake mounting is not like johns work at all, I would say its defo a Rumble.

I took the liberty of posting a couple of photos of this outfit to Derek Rumble jnr in Australia with the question "was this one of his dad's frames" and here is the reply I got;
Derek Rumble Hi Bill Lymburn.... The DRRD (Derek Rumble Race Developments) is very confusing because this is not a chassis built by my dad ( unless it's been extensively modified). My dad did however use Windle forks and swing arms from time to time because he reckoned they where we'll built and bullet proof. I'm more inclined to think this chassis could be an early Fidderman or maybe Jacobs.

Its not a Fiddaman I dont think and cretainly not a Jacobs. Colins bikes were a work of art.
