Re: Bemsee Donington entries from MD
FAO of passengers - as I know how good drivers are (NOT) at passing information on!!!
In the joining instructions for Donnington, there was a specific notice for passengers from BEMSEE reiterating the rules about footwear and its appropriate height up the leg and about gloves that meet ACU standards, especially on leaving no skin exposed. The note also mentioned that they were aware that some passengers were in the habit of having one set of boots and gloves to show the scrutineers and then used another set for racing in (I think it's very clear that they mean that the "other set" used on track would not meet the specifications).
The note makes it clear that they will be focusing upon passengers in particular at the Donnington meeting to ensure that what is presented at scrutineering and is also worn on track meets all the necessary requirements.
I got sent back in the pit lane last year at a meeting on the Friday test day for not having gloves which went over the top of my leathers - even when the ones I had on, with my arms extended, didn't show any exposed skin. Despite my calm and polite protest (honest, I am the racing preacher after all!!) we got sent back and we missed that practice session. I did go and have a word at the end of the day with the fella that stopped me, but there was no shifting his view that my 2 pairs of "short gloves" were not acceptable, even though no skin was exposed which I proved by flapping my arms about to show they didn't move on my leathers! He didn't say that short gloves were illegal - but I couldn't convince him that my two pairs were fine. He passed my other gauntlet style ones no problem.
So be warned - expect to get checked, probably more than once!!!
