Can i race without a fairing?

Unread post by little chud »

So after our pile up on Saturday, it's going to be a long shot to get a fairing and get it fitted for this weekend at cadwell. So thinking about racing without a fairing. Is this allowed?.

The structural part of the wheel arch is fine so that can stay on.

What are people's thoughts?.

Cheers.
John.

But they, while their companions slept, were toiling upwards in the night.

There is no problem if you want to race without a fairing.
You must not have any sharp bits sticking out, tubes, etc.
Tape foam over any fairing mountings etc,
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

Obviously if the wheel arch is usually held on by any clips on the fariring make sure that without the fairing it is still safe, properly clipped down somewhere else instead and above all not pink.. we don't do pink.

I once did a practice session at Knockhill on a short TZ 750 with no fairing . It was a bit light at the front but didnt notice much else different John, ie didnt feel like I was going to get blown off the thing . Bill Davie raced his similar bike often without a fairing at the time. Years ago with the weight of some fairings and the slow speeds It was probably an advantage not to have one. Before TZs that is lol.
