Does anyone know where I can get Windle F2 bodywork made or where there is any for sale? In July I ordered a complete set in Carbon Kevlar from Martek. All I have had since then is excuses and a lack of communication. Obviously i am not particularly happy about that situation as I am trying to get this ready for next year.
I haven't had much luck with wheels either come to that or discs. A wall of apathy and disinterest is all I have encountered. It seems money is no inducement either.
. . . . . I wonder why sidecar racing is a dying sport?
Can anyone help me? . . . . . please? Just a little bit . . . . . failing this does anyone want to buy an F2 Windle project before I decide to make it into a chopped trike
I don't 'want' to sell anything, what I want is some bodywork, a spare set of wheels and some new discs for an F2 Windle chassis that I am trying to build. It is just that I am met with either bull**it or apathy from the people I have approached such as Martek, D&D and PFM. So I am after info as to what companies out there are actually there to do business instead of fobbing me off with cr*p excuses . . .
OK - as you've discovered - not always easy to source parts for a sidecar - it may help to post a few pictures on here to prompt anyone that does have relevant parts to help you out.
Glass fibre - does it have to be Windle ? - or are you able to fit something else ? - I made moulds for my own a couple of years ago - but it's not something you'd want to do without a lot of time - my moulds are now with one of the Glass Fibre people - I really don't want to be sniffing too much more of that stuff - and also have the same issue - I ordered a set in May - am still waiting (I didn't expect it to be quick - as with a lot of things - I'm guessing our sidecar stuff doesn't pay the bills - so bigger commercial work will always get done first)
In defense of the guys in the business - I think most are stretched to the limit - there are fewer people building sidecars these days - most of them single handedly - and it's no good them hiring people in when they're busy - there just ain't the skills out there any more - just how many youngsters want to make a career in sidecar construction ?
A lot of the time - you just have to find alternatives - or make your own - or modify other parts - it's part of the fun of racing chairs !
BTW - when I built our bike - the rear / chair wheel centres I made - the fronts were modified Derbyshire - the discs are a mix of Cortina & Citroen Discs - very little is available off the shelf except probably LCR parts.
2 strokes are the future...

Had to laugh at this I heard somewhere... "You can't polish a Turd"
Hi Ginny, I can understand your frustration trying to sauce items. Have you tried Jason Miller he makes F/G bits and may be able to help.Sorry I don't have a a contact number for him but someone on the site will have one.I know Dave Cheeseman bought Terry Windles business and thought he would be able to help.Have you tried the wanted column on here someone may have some reasonable second hand Windle discs.Keep at it you will get there in the end.
Thanks for all the positive feedback and encouragement guys - it is very much appreciated. I will post how I get on and with whom. Paul, I know and Allie is contacting him for me. Jason is new to me - anyone know a contact for him? I shall see if I can track him down in the meantime.
Ginny
Never had any probs with with the Stop Shop and discs. Normaly return of post for the later 280 and 320 mm Windle discs Ginny. If yours are the older none floating type they will want a template to make them up. Jason will do a set of bodywork for your bike.

This is a prime example of why people, i'm guessing Ginny's budget won't allow it, buy LCR's. Run as a proper business and not as a hobby, with customer service to suit.
