LCR for larger riders :)

So an LCR is clearly designed with a certain riders build in mind, my question is what would you need to change to fit a larger rider in the cockpit? I'm guessing first thing would be to modify the fairing to fit then raise the front spring rate, would you need to change any of the geometry to suit? would raising the spring rate compromise the front end and make it bounce over bumps rather than absorb them? what about the rear shock?

Any help would be appreciated

you might need a handlebar which is made a little bit foreward. It looks loke a M, or build it as you need it.

is that larger in height or fattness? should easily accomadate a 6ft rider( thats height)

Geometry wise you'd probably end up with the chair wheel further forward, front grip shouldn't be a problem so you can move the chair forward and get more drive

Depending on the weight you would put a different rate spring to get back to the preferred amount of travel and then damping shouldn't be that different really, that alters more for where you are than who is on the bike. To be honest, the weight of a rider compared to the weight of the machine doesn't make a huge amount of difference percentage wise, I wouldn't see it bouncing around unless you've got no damping at all.

As for the fairing, there used to be different kneelers made for different heights, I don't know if that still happens, Ged would be the guy to talk to there. Widening fairings is an art, I've seen some stretched 3" across the shoulders and done so well you couldn't see the join.

cut the fairing each side on the flat bit at the front all the way to the nose cone. but cut it near each corner, so to speak. wedge it apart then plate it. use carbon fibre and a bit of filler. i did mine this way and got 3" extra at the shoulders. its not rocket science, trust me, even tho some will make it out to be hard. when i had finished, you would never know it had been done. dont bother changing springs, ect. tried all that and it makes no difference. run chair wheel second hole from the back.

the extra shoulder room made a massive difference to me so it's well worth the work. unless youre the next tim reeves, spring rates etc wont make much difference. get a porky passenger tho........this will help 'balance' the bike. and no, im not joking. by the way....i was a real racer once. ( well, sort of )
