Re: Oh Dear, Circuit of Wales (again)
interesting piece on BBC iPlayer.
A Safe Bet?
Investigative series. Tim Rogers investigates the company behind the Circuit of Wales, which promised to bring thousands of jobs to the deprived region of Blaenau Gwent.

Re: Oh Dear, Circuit of Wales (again)
Tim chose not to ask the other two questions I sent him:-
"Does your company - Aventa Capital - have any other £350 million projects on the go?"
(the answer is YES there are two others - The Downham Market Regeneration Project and the Wyre Tidal Barrage Scheme on the River Weir
"Has any progress been made finacially on either of those and what has happened to them?"
Well.........
Aventa Capital is still milking the public purse on the Downham Market Project - with no visible or physical progress whatsoever.
BUT...
The Wyre Tidal Barrage Schemes house of cards has finally been blown over. A Welsh Parliamentry question was asked of Aventa about this and the text from the local news report excerpt is below -
------------------------------------
Another of the Aventa projects is a £350m tidal barrage scheme at the River Wyre in Fleetwood, Lancashire.
The scheme’s co-founder Bob Long said: “We’re trying to regenerate the town, which has never recovered from the Cod War with Iceland, which devastated the local fishing industry. Mr Carrick approached us last year promising us funding which has not been delivered. I am owed £24,000 and my business partner is owed £32,000. I have told Aventa we no longer want their involvement.”
Aventa spokesman Shaun Meadows said: “Aventa and its investment partners have been initially supportive of Bob and his attempts to advance the Wyre Barrage and have led in the changing of the concept into a credible and deliverable project.
“We have put our interest in this project on hold while the government tariff support for tidal projects, such as the Wyre and the Swansea tidal lagoon and others is clarified through the current review. We understand that Bob is disappointed that we have chosen to wait for clarity and we have openly encouraged him to seek additional investors who may be prepared to invest while there is too much uncertainty over the viability of this project.
------------------------------------
They (Aventa) have milked a couple of million out of that one too with zero progress and no physical work other than some artists impressions of what the finished project will look like - SOUND FAMILIAR?
I attach an article I wrote some time ago and I may even have published it here before. The interesting thing is that David Davis (the WMP in the film Steve refers to) had a copy of it before he questioned Carrick.
Aventa threatened to sue me over the content of that article and I told them that I looked forward to receiving the legal paperwork. I also told them that whilst I could 100% prove EVERYTHING in that article, I had left out a lot of stuff that I know but cannot prove and that would very likely come out as part of my defence under 'disclosure' regulations..........
Strangely enough they went away and I have not heard from them since!
They are crooks and whilst a circuit could EASILY be built at Ebbw Vale it will never happen whilst they have their sticky fingers in the till.

Here we go again.. has that gone up? £425M now, but there's no contractual speak there from Extreme Sports.
This seems to be the great announcement of the day reigniting all the talk..
