If the bike was so crap when new and from what i have heard after further development never got any better, how the hell can it be worth £50,000?

Re: B.R.M. Outfit
My first post as a new member.Hi, I am doing a bit of research on the ex Dick Hawes BRM outfit and notice that there is some reference to a drawing and some pictures on some of the posts. Would any one still have any of this information that I could share please. I work on/restore BRM racing cars and the sidecar is something I have always known to exist but now would like to study it in more detail.

Re: B.R.M. Outfit
Well, like someone said earlier in the thread it was hung our my Grandad/Savs wall in the workshop.
It wasn't completely built as the sidecar upright had been removed and the rear tie bars were missing.
I remember as a 10/11 year old lad my old man giving my first riveting lesson!! I fixed the upright back on and we fitted the fairings back to it.
Then off we went down to Donnington as they wanted it for the museum, unfortunately they didn't want it without and engine! This left us with a problem, as My Dad (Barry), Saville and John had blown all the TZ's we had to bits!!
I believe Derek Jnr then sold this back to Dick and he has since sold it on again.
I have to say considering the period this machine was built it was some piece of engineering, and the price now is reflective of the name and the manufacturer......

This is picture from the Bonhams auction catalogue. It shows the main parts loosely assembled
for a photo rather than a complete outfit. It was sold in June 2014.
