Can any one help with an electrical problem on our sidecar Honda CBR600 RR 2008 -2013 engines with HRC wiring loom power commander and wide band.
We did 5 laps of cadwell in warm up all good went out for the race battery died, charge battery up when to the end of the road battery wad dead. So on Sunday we put a new battery in and had a short at the that caused the lithium battery to catch fire on the earth side, it now blowing fuses when we pull the lanyard out and we have an issue with the the feed to the fuel pump.
If any one can help as it is difficult to explain on here can you give Mark a call on 07809156866
We are racing at Mallory this weekend as Mark needs his last TT signature and we need to test the sidecar before it goes to the IOM.
Thank you

Hi Lisa, I'm not up to date with the 4 cyl F2's!!!!
Sounds like a major earth leak.
Do you run an alternator?, if so, check the whole of the charging circuit, you have a permanant live supply to the alternator to "excite" it.
The live could be via your kill switch circuit.

Re: URGENT Electrical help required
I've had a bit of experience with these electrics.
I would just recommend to change starter relay, other relays, reg rec and any switches etc.

SOUNDS LIKE AN EARTH FAULT,CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE BEFORE YOU PULL THE KILL SWITCH WITH THE ENGINE NOT RUNNING,IF YOU HAVE A SHORT IT WILL BE PULLING THE VOLTAGE DOWN BEFORE YOU TURN THE ENGINE ON,IT MAY PULL THE VOLTAGE DOWN WHEN YOU TURN ON ALSO,BUT IT WILL TELL YOU WHETHER YOUR SHORT IS APPARENT BEFORE YOU TURN THE IGNITION ETC ON,SHOULD BE 12 VOLTS WHEN OFF FULLY CHARGED APPROX AND AROUND 13.4 WHEN RUNNING APPROX DEPENDING ON YOUR TEST METER.LOOK AROUND YOUR HARNESS SOMETIMES WHERE CABLE TIES ARE TOO TIGHT OR MOVEMENT NEAR YOUR FRAME THEY CAN CAUSE SHORTS TO THE FRAME,ITS DIFFICULT WITHOUT LOOKING BUT IT MAY HELP YOU.
GOOD LUCK

UPDATE
Took the sidecar to Dynobike, took it out of the van and Paul put a new fuse in and the sidecar started with no problems. Checked the electrics over and couldn't get it to short.
Went racing at Mallory at the weekend and no issues.
May be the sidecar doesn't like going out in the wet

Definitely passenger error Lisa, you need a sparky not a joiner
