Fairing repair

Unread post by Bornracing »

Hello Everybody,

i has to repair my Shelbourne fairing.
I want to repair the fairing with carbon fiber textile and resin.
Did anybody has an idea witch carbon fiber density is the proven in terms of processing and stability? ( 68g/m³ - 400g/m³)

Thanks in advance

I use carbon Kevlar 2/2 twill 210g with polyester resin.

Straight carbon fibre tends to be a bit too brittle for fairings

massive thanks for your input.
A new element in discussion, i have some opportunities to use a autoclave and some carbonfibre prepreg's.
Did you think a fairing inside a autoclave stays stable in therms of dimension? Or do you think the hole fairing collapse around 180°C ?!
