Brief report on Tonfanau 21st April

I was marshalling so I don't have lap times, but this is what happened:

A good grid of seven outfits came out to practice, but unfortunately lots of them broke! New driver Mark Griffiths only managed half a lap of practice before an electrical gremlin struck. Gary Wilson was in the programme to drive, but I noticed he was passengering for Mark in a role reversal.

Alan Longshaw and Derek Salleh and Gordon Jones with Rob Knight were out on their Thundercat and F350 respectively, both novice passengers getting a bit of track time before the FSRA Pre-injection round at Oulton Park next week. Alan's Thundercat engine let go, so that was the day done for him and Derek. Dick and Thomas Tapken were on their BMW classic and pulled off during practice. I spoke to Dick briefly at lunch time and he was hopeful of fixing the problem in time for the first race. Mike Cookson and Kenny Cole only completed practice - I didn't manage to have a word so don't know what went wrong. Dan Knight and Maatew Rostrom on their 600 long LCR and the Green Ant team of Anthony Eades and Ash Gibson on their 1000cc long bike were the other two outfits.

Dan and Maatew led from the start in race one. Gordon and Rob made a valiant effort to hold second place for a couple of laps, but it was inevitable that Anthony and Ash would pass. Dick and Thomas brought up the rear, but appeared to be unable to change down at the Hairpin and pulled off after a couple of laps. Finishing order was Knight/Rostrom, Eades/Gibson and Jones/Knight.

Mark and Gary joined Anthony and Ash and Gordon and Rob for the second race, but Dan and Maatew did not appear. Mark and Gary were not happy and after a couple of laps pulled off, leaving the win to Eades/Gibson and second place to Jones/Knight.

Only Anthony and Ash and Gordon and Rob came out for the last race of the day, and finished in that order.
