Re: FIM Sidecar World Championship round two April 26/27 Estoril
Free practice report from Mark Walters
FIM Sidecar World Championship.
Estoril.
Free Practice.
Very bright sunshine, but very windy greeted the sidecar teams at Estoril for free practice.
All teams had no problems, but a few are looking at gearing, the wind is behind them going down the long fast start finish straight, but against them on the fast back straight, and on some corners the teams come out of shelter from the wind then it hits them straight in the face.
At the end of the practice session it was Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau who set the fastest time, this was 1,45.750.
Markus Schlosser and Luca Schmidt set the second fastest time, a 1,46.066.
The next four teams are all in the 47’s. Sam and Tom Christie, 1,47.001. Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement, 1,47.189. Pekka Paivarinta and Adam Christie, 1,47.446. Tim Reeves and Mark Wilkes, 1,47.485.
The first qualifying session will start at 11.45 local time, it will be sunny but the strong wind will still be here.

Re: FIM Sidecar World Championship round two April 26/27 Estoril
Qualifying one report from Mark Walters
FIM Sidecar World Championship,
Estoril,
Qualifying One.
All the sidecar teams took to the track in bright sunshine but very blustery conditions.
I was busy on track for the first couple of laps, teams trying to get a clear track for good times. Tim Reeves was caught up in a big group, he and Mark Wilkes came into pit lane and went straight through just to get a bit of a clear track.
The top two teams of Markus Schlosser and Luca Schmidt, Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau have got their times in the mid to high 45’s. Schlosser/Schmidt,1,45.699, Payne/Rousseau, 1,45.986.
Three teams in the 46’s. Sam and Tom Christie set a 1,46.389. Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement set a time of 1,46.619, with Pekka Paivarinta and Adam Christie setting a time of 1,46.839.
Tim Reeves and Mark Wilkes set a time of 1,47. 661 good for sixth.
Patrick Werkstetter and Valentin Pirat set the seventh fastest time of
1,47.962.
Sam and Jack Laidlow were eighth fastest with a time of 1,48.296.
Paul Leglise and Marjorie Cescutti set a time of 1,48.351, ninth fastest.
Rupert Archer and Ondrej Sedlacek rounded of the top ten with a time of 1,49.135.
Quilifying two will take place at 15.05 local time.

Re: FIM Sidecar World Championship round two April 26/27 Estoril
Qualifying two report from Mark Walters
FIM Sidecar World Championship.
Estoril.
Qualifying two.
“Payne and Rousseau start from pole”
Qualifying two was held in bright sunshine, but there has been a strong wind throughout all the sessions, it has affected all the teams, as well as the wind being strong it would increase with gusts making it really unpredictable at times.
Harry Payne and Kevin Rousseau will start from pole position for tomorrow’s races. The pair went faster in Q2 than Q1, they had no problems with their machine and look forward to tomorrow, their time was a 1,45.489.
Markus Schlosser and Luca Schmidt went out on track at the beginning of the session came back in and left it till later in the session to go out and string a few fast laps, unfortunately for them they did not improve on their Q1 time, but their 1,45.699 is good enough for second spot on the grid.
Sam and Tom Christie will start in third place, their time from Q2, a 1,46.229 was good for this. They have had no machine problems and hope tomorrow will be good for them.
Pekka Paivarinta and Adam Christie improved in Q2 with a time of 1,46.415, good for fourth on the grid, they are happy with this and have had no machine problems.
Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement were not happy with how their machine felt, just not a good feeling for the pair going into corners. They will head the third row in fifth place with a time of 1,46.619.
Tim Reeves and Mark Wilkes were happy with how things went today for them, they improved their Q1 time with a 1,46.702. Their machine has not been any problem today.
A good qualifying for Patrick Werkstetter and Valentin Pirat, they are really happy with how things have gone so far this weekend and have not had any machine problems.
Sam and Jack Laidlow will line up beside Werkstetter and Pirat on the grid, they did not go faster in Q2. The team are a little disappointed with this, but they are hoping for good results tomorrow.
Paul Leglise and Marjorie Cescutti are happy but they feel they should have been faster, they will head row five and look for good results in the race, and they have had no machine problems.
Lennard Gottlich and Lucas Krieg line up next to Leglise and Cescutti, they are happy with how things have gone over the weekend and have had no machine problems.
Rupert Archer and Ondrej Sedlacek are reasonably happy with how things have gone so far but they feel they should have been faster, they head row six.
Markus Venus and Thomas Hofer line up beside Archer and Sedlacek. The team are happy with how things are going and have not had any problems.
Kevin Cable and Charlie Richardson have had no machine problems but feel there is something missing, they don’t know what though. They hope they will get away well in the races and make up some places.
Two races tomorrow, the first a 10 lap race at 11.20 local time, the second a 17 lap race starting at 16.00 local time.
