Seemed strange to me - no messing with tyre changes etc. and good meetings with full grids, couldn`t see the problem.
The club wanted treaded tyres so as not too waste time - at already busy meetings - with having to call wet races and the associated wait for wheel changes etc.. I believe they would`ve needed a higher ranked clerk of the course to do that, as well. ( maybe wrong on that one)
Exactly. The time is so tight at the meetings when you are running 20+ 7 lap races and if you allow one class to run slicks what else could then happen? The solo guys may then want them too? And yes a higher level Clerk is required.

Re: TZ350 and the classic club
Illi,
I'm sure at the time we said we would buy treaded tyres, but I don't think it was put to all the 350 teams.
My coments may have been a bit blunt but they weren't meant to cause offence. I was just saying the way I saw the situation last year. If it was as simple as just changing tyres then i would have expected to be allowed to enter the donington round as someone said we might be able to do, only to be told after a CRMC meeting that we couldn't.
Anyway, if the 350's are allowed to race with the CRMC but with a change of tyres put it to the teams and see what take up there is. I'd guess youd get maybe 5 teams?
If not, I'm sure the CRMC will have a good year with plenty on their grids, as will the 350's in their respective rounds.
jc.

The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight.
But they, while their companions slept, were toiling upwards in the night.

Re: TZ350 and the classic club
John, In all honesty if the turnout this year continues the momentum of last year then our grid sizes are likely to be pretty good. We had a steady growth in numbers as the season went on last year and we are welcoming at least 3 or 4 new teams too.

Ian, I thought that was the case and glad to hear it. Hopefully we'll see the same.

Lets hope so John. It would be a shame to see either class wither away.

Re: TZ350 and the classic club
I was talking to the CRMC sidecar rep the other day, and he expects most meeting to be over subscribed this season.

Hope so but most unlikely IMONickR wrote:I was talking to the CRMC sidecar rep the other day, and he expects most meeting to be over subscribed this season.

Saying that...... at least Ian Johnson is there to promote sidecars and talk to / encourage crews / potential crews rather than put them off & continuously slate them behind their backs as with last elig' rep
