For a start, there are low pressure SU's, which we use on the Kirby BSA because it has GP carbs, and there are high pressure SU's, which we can use with concentrics. I have had all sorts of problems with the regulators, which I do not recommend.... and as Bob says, some suck and some blow. Depends on which part of Paris you are visiting

Hi Ian, May take you up on that. Have checked the part number on our pump and according to the Facet site it is a 7 psi + one
so have ordered a new one that is rated at 1.5-2.5 and will see how that goes

Do you mean the little round chrome thing where you press the middle down to change the settings? Last time I was on a bike with one of them was back in 1991 and we had to put a small tie wrap round between the knob and the body to stop it vibrating, the thing was all over the place, it behaved a bit better after that. Binned it after 4 meetings(ish, it was a long time back) though and put the usual UFO type jobby on with the acorn nut on top over the locknut, no problems after that.

Spot on! The UFO type thing with the acorn on top is a filter / fuel king and is on the shopping list but probably after Pembrey now. Am going to try the new pump with no regulator first and see what happens.
