Mallory practice 11th March

Unread post by MikeB »

Team Gristwood had a strong presence yesterday with 3 outfits in for practice.
Dave was flying....... straight out of the tray on to his arse at Edwinas
He was okay and can be seen enthuisastically running to get back on so Simon can practice a bit more grass tracking

Ian McGhee and Roger Holms were powering round on their Weslake, lovely jubbly

Good Pic's mike. Great to see Ian back out on track. Apart from Simon losing his passenger and grasstracking did Team Gristwood have a good day?
Winning isn't everything....but wanting to win is.

Have a photo somewhere of Ian dicing with Ron Walters approaching Paddock at Brands form the middish 60s :D

Red, tidy RGM Triumph IIRC ...
It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

I have in my mind one of the scenes from the film 'cool running' with John Candy

Noticably cleaner leathers on the passenger than they are about to become...... :D

Thanks for the photos Mike.

We had a mixed day.

No1 outfit, brake issues (sticking on) and carb/ignition problems. I think I have fixed it now though. Lost Dave going into Edwina's but he's OK.

No2 outfit, not only looked good but went well. (I may have to 'help' them with some heavy handed maintenance)

No3 outfit, stripped drive belt and had gearbox issues. Spent 2hrs looking locally for a replacement belt and then found one in their spares box. I think I have fixed the gearbox, worn selector spring and paw, so they should be ok now.

I think the days of lapping my team mates (it happened once last season) is gone forever.

Obviously the driver was the one doing the looking   8-)
