What a weekend....
Was going really well in the first race on Saturday, that bike of Nick's is a rocket and was happy with a 2nd! The weather managed to hold itself off ish for the race which is always a good do.
Thought hog roast was good on Saturday along with the band, well done to everyone involved with getting that organised.
Sunday..... what a bad do really. Started off in the frist race where Ed decided to leave me on the effing line after decided to switch the engine off just as the flag came out for the warm up lap  Then on the first lap temp was running at about 100 and Ed felt it tighten up so we pulled in just after the esses. Got that sorted for second race then the bloody throttle cable snapped on the first lap coming out of the harpin. So with a bit of a rush to get that sorted for the last race, we finished the day with a 3rd.
Big thanks to Reg Charlesworth for his help with the throttle cable and to Dennis and Christine :D :D
Never trust anything that doesnt stand up by itself!

It may have something to do with the fact that he spends most of the time trying to pull the bloody carbs of the bike.

Ronno, nice to meet you at the weekend.

There was an error on the results from the first race.

They were amended so the official result now shows Luhr/Currell as 8th.

Well done guys. :D

Well, in practice we had the recurring problem of the front discs overheating causing the brakes to lock on.

After a few changes we went out in the first race. It was ok for a while but I felt them bind as I came out of the hairpin, by the end of the straight the front wheel locked and I got a blowout. The inner tube was mullered.

This weekend confirmed that the over heating only occurs when the fairing is fitted. So after another Saturday night of hectric spannering we were ready for race two, minus a fairing (but with numbers this time  ). Unfortunately we got hit from behind during race 2. Damaged foot, broken mounts and, although I didn't know at this stage, damaged gear box.

Race 3, changing gear was a game of chance, lots of free wheeling around corners and clutch slipping on the exits. Came 8th.

Race 4, made some changes to the selector, much the same though. Passed Ian and Kevin (they claimed they had ignition problems :? ). Came 6th.

Gear box is now out and will be sent off for repair tomorrow.

The weather was awful. I saw Grant a few times stood in the pouring rain with no shelter. Thanks to all of the marshals. You are all fantastic. It would be nice to not always be on first name terms with the recovery crew though.

Will you be out at Donington Ian?

Not a chance. £240+ to be at that dump - Will be at Croix instead as much cheaper, lots more track time and good food, beer and no fear of stuff being stolen etc.

Wil be at Brands for sure and can't wait.

Sorry to hear you had such an 'eventful' weekend. Keep plugging away mate it will get better (at least that is what I keep telling myself  ).

Having raced at both Croix and Donington Park both circuits have their own characteristics. Can't remember too many MotoGP events at Croix! Plenty at the other dump though! £200 plus for three days at the premier circuit in the UK (or it was until they changed it) - no ferry costs, no one-day licences - it all adds up - I have no statistics on stuff being nicked from circuits. I do know, however, they have prisons in France which would indicate scum exists everywhere - so take care.

Best of luck wherever you decide to race - see you at Brands and thanks to Grant and all the orange clad brigade for their work at Darley Moor. The only thing that really needs improving for next year is the weather! The toilets are quaint but functional reminding me of another circuit I used to race at (oh yes, Croix). :witch: (closest to a Banshee)

Ian, it may well be 3 days at Donington but it is only 3 races and from memory that works out over £18 per lap assuming you finish them all!
