Why do you race F2?

Unread post by Kensei »

Okay, so just a brief spin off of the "New Class" thread that's currently getting quite interesting in the F1/F2 forum.

Why did you decide to race F2 instead of F1?

for us it was a natural progression from the 350 which is of course an F2 Gordon ;) ;)

definately not cos its cheap. Our bike cost a fair amount and it is nothing better than great club bike in our hands compared to new machines

Having ridden an F1, I've gotta say I wasn't too struck by it. it was v fast but I didn't like the way it steered. However, having said that it was my first go on anything other than the 350 and the scooter, so i dare say I would get a lot more out of it now.

I think F1's are amazing pieces of engineering but not really my cuppa cha.

Money wasn't really an issue as we dont have any :D and we could have got a good club f1 for the price of our F2

As for the TT, I almost daren't say this on here but I'm not too sure if I'm bothered about doing it. One day I'll make my mind up and stick with it.

So F2 it is for us for now. Never say never I say. When we all move to open class, i'll be out on a short stroker :D

jc. :D

I race a short outfit because I don't like riding a long outfit, monocoque or tubular and believe me I have tried.

I have now rebuilt my Ireson outfit with a Thunderace engine and next year we will have a Suzuki fitted but no long chassis for me, I don't like riding 'em. :( :( :(
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

But I suppose the real answer is ‘The TT’
I don’t regret the things I did wrong, I do regret the things I did right. . .for the wrong people !

Now be honest Kew it wasn't so much that you didn't like riding one, more you could'nt ride one quick enough
With a start line of Cookie, Roy Lawrence, Bob Aubrey, Kris Hibberd, Big Andy, Alan Bale & Me all in a line your start position was well before Pembrey kink...  BUT with the F2 you could hide inbetween us up near the front ... :D & that is the truth..

Started passengering on short bikes, just didn't like passengering long un's. so when I started to drive went F2. Never fancied driving a long one after Jocks death, rather be thrown off than crushed, feel the same about new style fairings that have come into F2 with the LCR. Oh well yet another reason to go classic.

Find F2 are cheaper to run can run tyres to canvas, less delicate if ya crash one, Easier to load in van, dont need such a big workshop.
Have not had enough time on a F1 to be quick so I feel more comfotable and enjoy riding a F2 more.

I race an F2 sidecar because they're proper sidecars. They remind me of my youth when i used to watch Mac Hobson, Jock Taylor, George O'dell and the likes at Scarborough. I just enjoy racing my Shellbourne.
It doesen't matter to me whether i'm racing at the T.T. or Cadwell i get just as much enjoyment out of it.

Hi
i like the package. Not to much tecnoligy, engine is not to strong but fast enough, the bike is safe and i like to be the little bastard in the middle of the F1.
It needs less space in a van and workshop. It is just what i like to do. Main thing is, it is safe.
Bye Eckart
