Scitsu

Unread post by Seagoon »

I found this place after searching for info. about Rudi Kurth and now I would like to know about an even vaguer memory of mine.
At the time that Owen Greenwood had his Mini I think I remember a guy called Jon Worthington racing a tandem seat outfit with a Triumph twin engine(that may have been behind the passenger) called a Scitsu.
Does anyone have any information please?

There's mention of the scitsu in this thread, which will probably be of interest to you anyway 8-)
I think the one you're looking for is the 6th shot in the gallery that RP linked to at the top post

Thanks for that - brings back a lot of memories :D I had completely forgotten about the Unorfordox and I was too young at the time to appreciate the different ideas that were in use. I have always assumed that Sidecar Racers were at least slightly deranged but the varied engineering proves that they just think differently to normal human beings  :notworthy:

I'm pretty sure that Phil Biggadyke has the Scitsu, he's a good mate of Rolly Mettam who has the Mogvin.

I'm surprised that it still exists! I expected that it would have been broken up years ago. With a bit of luck it might be displayed one day so that we can all see it again.

Both have been fully rebuilt, the Mogvin had to have a new chassis made. Roly races the Mogvin in anger :) , I think it's a couple of years since the Scitsu was out.

Whatever became of the Mog Imp ? It was competitive with the Greenwood Mini, early 70s.

Of course, a little later, there was Doug Young's T500 go kart style outfit 8-)
It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

Doug raced at Lydden & Brands late 70s & 80s on his own design/build using a Suzuki T500 motor. From what I remember it was virtually a flat chassis like a three wheeled kart with the engine behind Doug who sat in a bucket seat with his passenger at the back able to move around the platform. CoG was lower than a conventional outfit so cornering was quicker which is where the relative lack of power was minimised.

Don't suppose that anyone has pics of this machine :?:

That explains it. I didn't get that far South in the 70's. I didn't have enough room to fetch some decent beer

Thanks. There's some interesting stuff in there. I have never seen the Mogvin before - can't imagine why.

I think I am correct in saying Gerry Daine who is our C /O/ C for the NEMCRC has a part share in the Skitsu and it has been restored to its former glory.

Is there any way to find out if it is likely to be on show any time? I'd love to get a closer look.
