Seem to remember the 4 pot Suzuki, down at Lydden in the late 70s, Steve you were probably at the same meeting with the family, I think it was the first oufit I'd seen with rear exit and commenting that it would never catch on !

Not sure if going too much off topic here steve.

There were 2 that I know of built , Roger had one and my dad had the other. Rogers was always the quicker engine of the 2 but his was more unreliable.
The extension to the crankcases was made out of solid billet at a place where my dad worked. The barrel was machined off and added. Not sure how they did the water cooling on the 4th pot ?
It was a fairly successful idea to make a 1000cc 2 stroke. What they hadn't banked on was the riding position. Keeping the chain alignment original meant that there was this big 4th cylinder hanging out the right hand side. This made it really awkward to work the throttle bending over the cylinder.
I don't know what happened to Rogers , but my dads was sold to a car hill climb racer who bought the engine and running gear complete.

The only other idea I know of that was similar was Doug Young , Doug joined 2 Suzuki 500cc twins together. The story goes that he joined them together at the cranks with a solid fixing. When he started them up for the first time the timings were out on the 2 engines so it tore itself in half. He copped the hump and hacksawed it all up !!

Yes we probably are going off will split in a mo. I'm pretty sure Doug's twin engined thing had no suspension, was like a gokart? Or was that the single engined suzuki?

Right, I'll split this.

Doug's go kart was powered by a modified Suzuki T500, great idea and seemed to work very well :D

Don't suppose that there are any pics anywhere?
