Both :D Perhaps a goodly number of drivers who have also passengered because that was a relatively easy and inexpensive way into racing. Having said that though when I started back in the good old days (?) a passenger commonly paid half of all expenses including spares, repairs, tyres, etc etc.

But they, while their companions slept, were toiling upwards in the night.

Question: would you race as a passenger with ourself driving?
I would.
I think because my passengertime i understand the one left of me much better, even in the pub.

Have ridden several solos on test days at Brands and Snet many years ago. one was a Honda CR110 50cc over thye counter racer, terrific little machine, didn't have to use the brakes, just pop your head above the bubble! Mind you the old Norwich Straight did not half seem long, instead of a rev couunter it should have been fitted with an alarm clock  Another was a 500 Goldie, a real bike that needed riding properly. Probably the best was a Manx with a Bonnie lump, quick, precise and a joy to ride.

Both, albeit the driving was limited to one meeting and I managed to break my passenger too when I (I say I, he should have been holding on) slung him into the weeds at Jurby. Both myself and the bike were fine :D

I've done all 3. I wouldn't have an issue passengering myself except for the fact that I'm too clumsy, uncoordinated, fat and inflexible to keep up at race speeds. Why do you think I became a driver? ;)
