Sounds good Dick. I don't suppose you have any idea as to which class of outfits are likely to be eligible have you? Is there more than one class etc?

Re: Camathius Cup 2013
Hi Terry. up to 750 and over 750 ie 2 classes
We thought of an additional trophy for the country with the most points, but decided to keep it simple
for the first year.
Just a point....I was talking in the paddock on Sunday to some sidecar crews about the CRMC 750 classes.
I appears 750 Weslakes are not allowed[4valve heads] as it is unfair to the BSA, Norton and Trumph crews.
Surely with several Richard Moore BMW motors on the scene this rule is out of date. I am in no way against
Richards engines [and often the dearest ends up the cheapest in the long run], but imagine a guy with a
twenty old Weslake motor being told he has an unfair advantage so he cannot compete.
Speaking of Richards Moore's motors, have you noticed how they are not only super quick but also super
reliable........thats clever.

Dick, I understand some of the issues that you raise but personally I will sit tight and let the organisers and officials get into debate on the rights and wrongs, there are already enough critics on the forums ankle nipping and sour grape munching as it is without more of us adding to it.dick hawes wrote:Hi Terry. up to 750 and over 750

That said, we are all entitled to air our views if we feel the need, on the track works for me!
Thanks for the update Dick and I look forward to some more news.

Re: Camathius Cup 2013
in most Classic Racing Motorcycle Clubs in the UK and Europe the deadline is 31 december 1972...so where does that fits a F350...?!

Re: Camathius Cup 2013
I guess it depends what you views are on what classic racing is or should be ?
If a set of rules have been drafted for some specific reason - and that is what the majority want - then that's fine.
If there is enough interest from people wanting to run a 350 2 stroke - and there is space on the grid - why not ? - even if they have to run as a separate class - unless there are safety issues - or the organizers have a desire to exclude the 2 strokes completely.
After all - we are all of us - just a bunch of people wanting to have a bit of fun with our chosen sport - there's no fame & glory involved for any of us - well there wasn't the last time I looked anyway

Re: Camathius Cup 2013
You speak a lot of common sense Gordon. I am not bothered about points and glory, I just want to race my bike at interesting venues. Can the rule for this new championship be modified to allow us with 350 engines in? The answer MUST be yes shirleyG JONES wrote:I guess it depends what you views are on what classic racing is or should be ?

Re: Camathius Cup 2013
Last time I looked F350 run in the POST classic championship. You can't run with CRMC because you are not classic (1972 cut off), you are rear exit not front exit.
Really looking forward to seeing what the boys have put together as a Championship, there has been a lot of hard work gone into this and has been talked about for a long time. Things seem to be coming together. All credit to Dick, Seb, Ben and anyone who I have forgotten. Looking forward to next year....

Re: Camathius Cup 2013
Presumably this cup is named after Florian CamathiAs, and I'm sure Bob will agree, should be spelt as the great man spelt it. Watching and more to the point, listening to him coming down from Bedstead to Governors and out onto Glencrutchery Road on the Gilera, was a major reason in my taking a much greater interest in sidecars. Apologies for being pedantic!

Re: Camathius Cup 2013
I'm in total agreement with my fellow pedant in the previous post
Flo was one of my two alltime sidecar heroes and I have had the great pleasure and privilege of being in some races with him - note, not racing with him but just sharing the same tarmac at the same time

It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!
