What do the TT F2 rules say about traction control?

Looking at aftermarket ECUs for my F2.
One option includes traction control (and they no longer offer the model that excludes it).
Is traction control disallowed by the TT F2 regs?
If the ECU is traction control capable would it be sufficient to program out the traction control? (assuming traction control is not allowed).
Need an answer within the next couple of days.

We don't know yet what the 2014 regulations will state, it may well change same as the general engine regs have (unlikely), but for 2013

23 Traction Control
• Any electronic traction control system is forbidden. Wheel speed sensors are not permitted.

This is from Appendix B of the 2013 regulations attached.. you will find the full sidecar regs there in appendix B. I think if you can show it's not switched on and there's no hidden switches Willie would be fine with it. He's there to get you racing not stop you

You may need to be careful with what you buy, we have traction control on the F1, it is standard ZX10 2012 which comes with traction control. We didn't want to use it as it won't allow you to spin the wheel if you understeer, therefore we didn't bother fitting the wheel speed sensors or the slotted discs that fit on the wheels. The engine wouldn't run and rev properly without these parts fitted even though traction control was switched off. Make sure your ecu will run without wheel speed sensors.

Shut up Bruce, trying to make the point that you can't always run modern engines with any ignition without using wheel speed sensors which isn't allowed according to the rules. If you haven't anything useful to add to the thread and don't want to try and help answer a perfectly valid question then don't reply.

Go on Ken Bruce, the point is that it's not allowed (and probably not really wanted by most drivers) so the discussion here is how to get a modern system to run properly with it disabled.

ECU in question is an aftermarket unit that implements traction control with out any wheel sensors (not sure how, I think it senses impossible increases in revs or something). I'll make sure it can be switched off.

I often steer with the throttle so the only time I could see using it was on the starting line (for closed circuits) or maybe in the rain (but I doubt it). Only came up because we were looking at this particular unit for other reasons (affordable, plugs directly into the stock harness, supports a quickshifter and a closed loop auto tune with 02 sensor).

Thanks for pointing out a potential problem though. Curious how you worked around not having the wheel speed sensors?

dont know what use if any traction control would be on a sidecar as you need the back wheel to break loose sometimes to help steer /turn . Passenger also can help this of course
I personally wouldnt buy an ecu because of its tc ability . That would be my last consideration

Audi used "intelligent traction" on the early SWB Quattro competition cars as far back as 1982. It is only really pertinent to this thread in that - Rally Cars also have a need to be able to spin up in order to turn correctly. Audi mastered that balance over 30 years ago (and I can tell you, chasing them in a 2WD RS1800 was no fun at all) therefore modern gurus will certainly be able to tailor an intelligent traction control system for a sidecar if someone puts their mind to it.

And as regards rules, we all know that if the right teams want traction control - the TT rules will be adapted to allow it.
