Attention All Early Testers part II

Unread post by wasman »

Hello Everyone going to Teeside on the 16th!

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Mark (but everyone calls me Bart). I lived in Australia for a few years and I was an F2 passenger for a couple of seasons. We had a Shelbourne with a CBR600RR, caused us lots of mechanical trouble but we had lots of fun too. On the 'come and try it' and practice days I drove the outfit but never raced it. I'd like to get into F2 racing here and I have an interested mate who's interested in forming a team with me. We'd alternate between driver and passenger - we're strictly in it for fun. I have a road going outfit and rode from Melbourne to Birmingham in 2014 alone on a KLR650. More about that here: http://www.sophiewhiptank.com (Sorry I haven't figured out the url/hyperlinks yet).

My Mate is Martin (but everyone calls him Pax). He's the best bike rider I know off the circuit. He's keen to go racing and a sidecar in particular, he's had plenty of road going sidecars in the past when his kids were young. (But as far as I know has never raced). Before he commits any funds though he'd like to try being a passenger and driving a proper F2. (He's quite a sensible chap).

Speaking to a few people it looks like Teeside is a possible venue to get a ride, as the license requirement isn't so strict. We've got all the right gear, full leathers, boots and helmets etc..

What we're looking for is a friendly team, preferably F2 (but hey, beggars can't be choosers) who are willing to give us a passenger ride on the test day. (More for Pax than myself, I know what it's like!). I understand that it's highly unlikely anyone would let us drive their precious outfit, but if you don't ask you don't get. If it helps I'm 45 and Pax is 50 and we've got kids, we're not a couple of 19 year old chancers! We're both handy with spanners (I've built 3 road going trikes) and happy to help out on the day if you need it.

It's a fair trek to Teeside but we'd take a ride over if we know someone's going to be there to look after us. That's it really, looking forward to the flood of offers :-)

You can contact me at mrwarrender at hotmail dot com
Or on 0771005909 and I'll put you in touch with Pax.

If you've read this far, here's a little video of us at Phillip Island a few years ago.
