Motors TV taken off Sky

Fans and much of the British Motorsport Industry was left in turmoil as news emerged yesterday that the giant of motorsport broadcasting in this Country Motors TV has been taken off Sky’s Electronic Programme Guide.

The move comes only weeks after its service on Freeview channel 71 was also taken off air without warning.

Many racers and fans have taken to social media to express their shock and dismay and with only weeks to go before the start of most people’s 2016 season, the disappearance from Sky’s Electronic Programme Guide will cause great concern to many within the industry who relied on the exposure Motors TV provided.

The news also throws into question whether many UK viewers will get to watch the World Endurance Championship or the British GT Championship live this season.

Motors TV does continue to broadcast off the Sky EPG on satellite, although it does have encryption which prevents non-Sky users from viewing it. For the time being you can still watch Motors if you are a Sky subscriber, go to Services, Options, Add Channels and enter the following details: 11082 H, Symbol Rate 22000, FEC 5/6

There has been no comment from the Broadcaster.

I used to get it on ordinary Freeview, never had Sky, then it suddenly disappeared. Can still get it on Freeview through the internet, on an internet TV, on an HD channel. Channel 240 that is. Below are the details, if they are of any use. Don't ask me anything about them, I don't know :?:

UK residents can now watch Motors TV on Freeview HD on Channel 240. Here's how:
CHANNEL 240
You can also watch Motors TV via an internet-connected Freeview HD or Freeview+HD product (set-top box or TV) thanks to Arqiva’s Connect TV service on Channel 240.
While most Freeview+HD boxes will automatically detect the Motors TV signal, others might initially require re-tuning.
Unfortunately viewers are unable to pause or record internet-delivered programming.
All the details for receiving our internet-connected Freeview service are listed below.
1) How do I check my current TV/set-top box (STB) is able to receive Motors TV?
• You need a Freeview HD TV or set-top box (device)
• It must be a HD device, not a non-HD Freeview device. If you can receive BBC1 HD on channel 101 then it is a Freeview HD device.
• It must be connected to the internet via either a cable back to your home router or WiFi (some new TVs also have in-built WiFi that can connect). Follow your manufacturer’s instructions on how to do this.
• Re-tune your TV or STB as if you are installing new channels to ensure you have the latest listings in the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG).
• Once re-tuned check to see if Motors TV is listed at channel 240 in your EPG. If it is not you are unfortunately in the small percentage of people only able to receive a limited range of Freeview channels.
• Select Motors TV on channel 240. It may take up to 30 seconds to begin streaming. If you see a message on screen saying ‘your device is not compatible’ or ‘service loading please wait’, which doesn’t subsequently clear after about one minute, then your TV or STB is unfortunately not compatible with these services. Our providers are constantly working to open up access to as many devices as possible but some older TVs and STBs may not conform to the necessary requirements to receive our channel.
• One way of checking whether your device is compatible with internet-delivered channels is to select channels immediately around 240. All of these are internet-delivered, so if they also don't work it's highly likely that your device is unfortunately incompatible.
