Okay All . I have a serious dilemma. I am looking at a sidecar ( Terry -Peter Windle) unit that has a single sided swinging arm. Its a classic windle, and a very tidy unit at that, however, I have had it quoted to me that in the USA you cant race a single sided swinging arm unit. An all STOP as this is where I will race for the next year or so.
To me which is utter Bollxxs, BUT NEVER THE LESS it is WHAT IT IS, YANK rules, GRRRRRRR RULES for one and not for another, I so wish they would adopt real rules. Ie listen to the racers and take it from there. Another story, rant over.
Can anyone tell me , A has it ever been changed over before in previous outfits , where to go to. And or do you have a full sidecar swinging arm that's fully specked other than single sided you may want to part with .
I am caught in a total dilemma, on this one as its important before I make my mind up on how this all pans out.
Maybe just go and get an LCR LOLO

Depends who you are planning to race with in the US. Most groups will let you run but you may not be eligible for points or trophies in the vintage class you are targeting.

Thanks Chris, in what respect are you commenting. I am all new to the position of the American racing so treat me like a novice. Life would be simple if we all ran the same way , ie UK rules, we can always wish.

I was inferring you can probably race that sidecar with a single sided swing arm with most clubs, you just may get disqualified from the scoring, or bumped up to a modern class depending which club you race with. Most sidecar clubs would be happy to have another bike on the grid and most sanctioning bodies would be happy to have another entry fee, so I don't think you will get turned away. Let me know where in the US you plan to use as your base of operations and I'll try and put you in contact with the people that make the decisions.
I would think the most important benefit at this time is to just get as much track time as you can on the new bike.

Thanks for your input really appreciate you comments, I have a fair bit of track time under my belts. But not with this unit so will see how it all pans out. I would be grateful for any prompts as the US and regs looks like a complete mine field. I know that talking to various people they would love to come to the US to race, some very serious and others are put off by the drastic variations of regs and rules. Hence my concerns about the swinging arm. But that said LCR races at F1, as you say it up to who's on the ball on the day. Simple solution is to have a replacement swinging arm manufactured, as it was previously built. This keeps it well within the acceptable and puts it into the classic bracket for sure, I may have found one that was on the original bike.
Look forward to meeting up hopefully some day over the pond
