Mixed fortunes in weather and machine reliability for the thirteen teams entering this third round joining us was Alan Warden with Ross Jackson R6 600 from Scotland.
Saturday was in warm sunny conditions Sunday race one started in light rain with slick tyres but race two Sunday was heavy rain and wets. It was good to see two old championship teams return with Alan Longshaw and Alan Longbottom 350 Banshee Yamaha and Tony with Brother Neil Wheatley Ireson TZ750.
Saturday race 1
Rob Fisher with Rick Long Baker 600 Baker Yamaha was back on top form taking the win. First time to Anglesey father and son Bruce and Ashley Moore Ireson 600 second. Third for also first timers to Anglesey were Alan and Ross.
Myself with Mark Edwards on a Yamaha FJ 1200 claimed fourth just in front of Pat Gallagher and Mark Maier Derbyshire GSX1100. Newcomers with a long wheel based Suzuki 1100 Mark Burns and Steven Winfrow sixth, the Ladies Marianne Walford with Kerry Hughes 600 Baker seventh and also newcomers to our sport Father and son team Gerald and Daniel Hodgson 600 Shellbourne eighth.
Saturday Race 2
The first four finishers finished as per race one but Gordon Jones with Smudge Taylor sorted his TZ350 Yamaha after practise to claim fifth. Burns managed to get in front of Walford but after a DNF in race one newcomers Ian Sutcliffe with Robert Bryant Jacobs 600 Yamaha took eighth Hodgson family ninth.
Sunday Race 1
Pat Gallagher’s team did an extra shift and changed his engine overnight which paid off, first three were unchanged Fisher Moore Walden. Pat was fourth relegating me to fifth. Gordon Jones 350 sixth, newcomers Sutcliffe Bryant 600 Jacobs had their best race so far taking seventh in front this time of Mark Burns. Hodgson’s race ended with a spin off at rocket corner in the wet.
Sunday Race 2
All on wet tyres the teams with working engines eight out of thirteen joined in. Rob Fisher and Rick Long make it four out of Four wins for the weekend and the Moore family with four second places. Myself and Mark were able to pinch third from Alan Warden who took fourth. The ladies were fifth whilst father and son Hodgson finished their first wet race to get a signature.
