Trail riding weekend in January (solo and sidecar)

Unread post by KatieMsidecar »

During the year, a few people chatting in the Paddock were interested in a trail ride in Wales during the winter break. Date suggested is the weekend of 28th and 29th January, but we could go a week earlier than that.

I have spoken with the manager of the Plas Dolguog Hotel, Penegoes, Machynlleth, SY20 8UJ, and if a reasonable size group is booked, he will do bed and breakfast for £40 per person each night based on sharing a double or twin room. The restaurant is reasonably priced, so you would be looking at about £100 for staying Friday and Saturday nights with a convivial meal on Saturday evening (a little more if you require a single room). The manager is aware that if the weather is snowy or icy, we would have to postpone.

If you are interested but don't have your own road legal trail or enduro, we have 5 bikes which can be hired. You must have a full motorcycle licence. Bikes are 3 x Honda CRF250Ls, 1 Yamaha WR250R and 1 Yamaha TT600RE. We will do a full day's riding on Saturday from 9.30am until darkness falls (about 5pm), and a shorter day's riding on Sunday, from 9.30am until 3pm. Price for hiring a bike is £250 which is a discount of £100.

My husband Colin will lead a ride of experienced trail/offroad riders, and I will take the novice group.

For anyone who doesn't have a licence, I will be asking the enduro sidecar boys if they are willing to come along and provide some passenger places. If this is a popular option, I think we should pay for the enduro sidecar drivers' stay in the hotel and a bit of petrol money. Therefore there will be a fee of £60 for each passenger and each solo rider bringing their own bike, which hopefully would provide enough money.

Although we won't be going out if it is icy, here is a great picture!

Bother! I'm already booked up for that weekend, otherwise we would be coming. The trails around there are lovely.
