Who are the two outfits you are refering to? I know my engine is no where near 100bhp.martyf350 wrote:The trouble is for every small step we make to even things up every 1 else is allowed to do what they want. The general power output in p3 is 100bhp plus. Im aware of only 2 outfits that are not near these figures. Some circuits we have trouble holding off perky and foxon. We're not after making the rules to suit us we just feel things should be fairer so it is down to the riders and machine and as some1 has said we need to hear Brian and vicky a response but we are killing engines just to stay in touch and to try and keep our attempt at a championship alive.

The problem is there is no clear case when you look at the current crmc championship standings after cadwell there is two honda powered outfits topping the table with an even spread of victories across multiple teams.

Absolutly agree with Richard, and John.If 1040 Bmws,900 Weslakes and Imps bigger than 998cc were used in period who raced them?
Come on,lets have some proof.
If I remember the wording correctly in the CRMC rules,it states the onus is on the owner to prove eligiblity,
well who used the 100bhp plus engines before 1972?
The first TZ700 engine,as used by Mac Hobson in a Fidderman chassis produced 90bhp tops, and managed to leave eveything for dead in a straight line.
How was that possible if peope were using more powerfull Imp,Bmw and Weslake motors? As some people would have us believe.

So what are most of you saying, limit the bhp,the capacity, or type of engine, maybe fuel type.Or shall we go for a 750 limit.??????????

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
well a 750cc limit would certainly make things cheaper me thinks...and some engines would last race distances again(think overstressed A65 engines, which were taken out to nearly 900cc and beyond, which makes them like handgranates and also other British engines)666 wrote:So what are most of you saying, limit the bhp,the capacity, or type of engine, maybe fuel type.Or shall we go for a 750 limit.??????????

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
I do find this thread interesting so won't be pulling anything so far, but see my new post, it's really for the members of the CRMC to sort out.. we can all shout from the outside that they're not really classics but please respect what they're doing, they're filling grids now better than the modern stuff so something is working right
carry on
I don't see how to sort out this thread so we'll let it go until anyone reports anything.. nobody has yet

carry on

yes, they're filling the grids because (nearly) everything goes...steve-e wrote:I do find this thread interesting so won't be pulling anything so far, but see my new post, it's really for the members of the CRMC to sort out.. we can all shout from the outside that they're not really classics but please respect what they're doing, they're filling grids now better than the modern stuff so something is working right

But I do understand what you mean Steve and will go stand in the corner and keep quiet from now... (except to say that they have got their own website/forum with a "members only" section to sort those things out)

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
No I don't mean leave it alone, this thread especially
this one doesn't have a set of regs attached, this is the one that I think is more about racing in general and not CRMC based
(even though Sean did put CRMC in the title, OK it took me a while to spot it )
For a start should other classic racing be like this? Have you seen the Oz classic/post classic scene? anything goes there.. the rules everywhere are very different and not as controlled as here so it's interesting to explore.

French rules are also quite different too. Championship winner in 2012 was a T500 Suzuki!
It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!

For a start, I think Classic Racing is about re-creating "something", we all agreed on that I hope...right?
But what is we want to re-create? sidecar racing up to 1973...yes...but...
like it used to be in the Grand Prixs? or like it used to be in the UK? or on the continent? or a mix of all?
What ever you choose from the 4, in all of them there were never any 1040cc BMW's etc. etc. ....

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
As I say, I wouldn't want to over moderate and I'm sure Sean was feeling pretty down being left in a straight line at Donington.. I felt the same in 96 at my first GP with Wilf when Webbo came past about 25mph faster, but they were both 500s
