I think Richard is Richard Holmes...sometime raced a Saab two-stroke powered outfit...hmmm Saab didn't they have a model called "96"...?steve-e wrote:what's the 96 Richard? you're on post 99 now.. go for the ton

Guy Martin used to own one, in which he drove up to CRMC meeting where he was competing.

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
the one Guy turned up at Cadwell in wasn't standard
Saab 99 I would have to ask Dude, he was a Saab tech for years and the only thing I know of them was that at 110mph down the M10 in third gear on the way to the park street roundabout I told him to slow down, they have a chain link in the primary and with his twin turbo intercooled thing it was scary how much he'd got it geared up. It was about 280bhp, I'm sure Dude will tell, abbott intercooler and he worked at 2 stroke to turbo the saab place in Hatfield. Each time he changed gear the engine hit the bulkhead, proper job

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
when i put that first post up it was No 96. the model car the engine came from was the 96 and my race number was 96 and on one other post 96 came up again. spooky

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
All the other engines are irrelevant to this thread as they are with in the rules yes maybe a cap should of been put in place on every engine but i cant see that happening now.
If you want to talk about saab's either bring one out with the crmc and i'm sure we'll all be interested or start a saab thread.

Jason,Richard, used to race his SAAB in the CRMC,he was the eligibility man, before Ian.
Be a waste of time and effort bringing a SAAB out now, theres no way your going to get the required output,to keep up with the big Bmws.

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
Can we get back to the Honda please. If the honda is winning with Mr Gray and stays together i would say its fast enough. When I was last racing my outfit it ran at the front sometimes, but that the likes of Mr Gray and Mr Perkins beat me was not engine size but they are just faster and better than me. and that may be the case here, we are going to get beat no matter what size engine we have in our bike

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
Right people I spoke to mr stan Stephens today and after a lovely phone call with this very intelligent man he told me that honda cb900 engines were used in the period and has given me lots of contacts to get the required evidence to prove they are eligible! He also told me that BMW was no where near 1000cc till 1980's!!!!!
I have no problem with the BMW or imps being big as long as we on the honda can join you considering ours is actually eligible!!!!!!!!

That I cannot say as I have not seen you both on the track together. Sorry if I caused offence

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
Hypothetical question - Take a grid of, let's say, 750 Tridents - given that all the machines are equal in preparation and performance and that the riders are of equal ability and experience. Would it not be unreasonable to assume, given an equable start, that they would finish in grid order ...
