You started it Sean!
It is true about the sidecar family - you can stop racing but you can never, ever leave!
Re: Honda 836cc crmc
I race my bike of choice, it is not the fastest and not the biggest but it is my choice knowing that it will not win now. I just wish riders would stop trying to change the rules if they dont win with the bike they have

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
We have won with it Richard and its not my bike it's my dads! I have also beaten Brian Gray on the tighter twisty tracks! My point of this thread is I want to run a 900cc engine next year as they were used in the era so I can't see how they are capped at 836cc? Yet BMW and imp can go to 1300cc when they was not run in era? Seems bit fishy to me???

Honda's were not welcome in the C.R.M.C in the sidecar class when it first started as they did not want history to repeat it self and force out the bikes that the club was setup for i:e Triumph/ BSA/ Norton and so on. after many years we got the Honda's back but only if they did not go above 836cc as this was the oversize that used the standard barrels. (when this was done there were no 1000 bmw's or 1200 imps) Hope this helps as to why it is 836cc

I think honda's were banned from the whole club originally sidecars and solo's were they not Richard?richard wrote:Honda's were not welcome in the C.R.M.C in the sidecar class when it first started as they did not want history to repeat it self and force out the bikes that the club was setup for i:e Triumph/ BSA/ Norton and so on. after many years we got the Honda's back but only if they did not go above 836cc as this was the oversize that used the standard barrels. I think the Honda CB engine just hasnt been tuned to the level of all the other bikes yet, i still think they have the potential to be up there power wise.

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
But the fact is that we now have 1000 BMW and 1200 imps so your telling me they won't force out others makes? It already happening so why I the 836 cap it's bloody stupid! We only talking 64cc more I think that's fair

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
I've tried to ignore this post for as long as possible. The forum, although good for discussion is not the place to sort this out.
Just a couple of points:
1) Sean, we should be on the same side but facts are facts, we have only blown up one engine this year which happened to be at Donington Park last weekend.
2) It is another fact that yes we do struggle to keep up with the BMWs and Imps in a straight line, but Brian is currently in the 45th consecutive racing season and with his experience we are able to make the best of what we have and ride accordingly. So far, this seems to have paid off.

Hello Sean,xxseanxx35 wrote:Hi Keith ours is reliable we only had one blow up and that was in Chimay in 40 degree heat which is understandable! Brian is destroying engines. What size was your windle honda?
My engine was 900cc with Russ Collins rods and Yoshi cams.
I took the shell off my racing snail thinking it would make him faster.
It just made him more sluggish.

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
Just as a matter of interest how was it decided that Imp/BMW`s could be out to 1000/1200, and Triples to 900+ if this wasn't possible in the original period ?

Re: Honda 836cc crmc
Because the rules in the day were any engine upto 1300cc.petercaughlin wrote:Just as a matter of interest how was it decided that Imp/BMW`s could be out to 1000/1200, and Triples to 900+ if this wasn't possible in the original period ?
