Who are they?
A large photograph has come into my hands. I think it is TT, given the hedges with large stones in them, which are visible in the main picture(too large to scan). I have scanned a part of it, so you can see the outfits.. so.. who? When?
Please don't post on Facebook etc at this stage, as I don't know whose copyright it is.

Re: Who are they?
That photo is used in the Southern 100 book "Fifty Years Of The Friendly Races". It's on Page 22, the riders names are not captioned, but it's apparently 1969.

Re: Who are they?
The photo was on show at the Laxey TT/MGP Exhibition at TT time. The Title was '9-Wheel Formation Flying' and the caption with it read:
'A trio of Triumph powered projectiles dice in the 1969 Southern 100 Sidecar Championship. P D Crossley leads B Chatterton and M F Ward. Regretably the programme does not give the passengers name.'
P D Crossley is Paul Crossley from Castleford
B Chatterton is Bernard Chatterton from Rotherham
M F Ward is Malcolm Ward from Rotherham
Apparently 1969 was the first year that the Southern 100 was included in the British Championship. Other riders listed, with some recognisable names, were:
Charlie Freeman Norton Ecklington

That was Charlie Freemans last Southern. He won with Kenny Arthur in the chair. Charlie had been away on holiday for a couple of years

Indeed so John
Of all the sidecar peeps in the area there were only about two or three of us that did not get an early morning alarm call!

Re: Who are they?
Paul Crossley's passenger was ? Stockdale from Sherburn in Elmete and I think, it is my engine they are using, as they had blown there's at Cadwell the weekend before.
Also, I think Paul was the first to use a mini wheeled outfit.

Re: Who are they?
I seem to rememeber Paul's passenger as John Stockdale,he later emigrated to the Isle of Man and ran the Stock Car stadium at Onchan.I also vaguely remember Paul's father working for Jim Norbury at Lockside engineering.

No.31 is Malcolm Ward (aka Sos Ward) and Cyril Jobes from Bolton on Dearne,Sos worked with Terry Windle and John Crick building outfits at Colin Bell Motorcycles before Terry and John left to form Windrick Racing.

Re: Who are they?
Thanks for uploading that great picture. I have a correction for a passengers name. Number 31 is being ridden by my dad, Malcolm Ward. In the chair is his younger brother Alan Ward. My dad did ride with Cyril Jones but not until later in the 70's. Thanks again, Chris.
