Re: From Paul Riley - 40yr maximum age for Newcomers at TT

If it hadn't been for the sidecar racers been willing to go out on a less than perfectly dry road, there would have been days of no racing at this years, and past years TT's and nothing to show on the evenings highlights on TV. The thanks you get for this is this stupid age limit rule.

Re: Are these any good?

The rotating spring collar thats used to adjust ride height looks the same as the ones on the koni dampers on my Baker. As for condition , there's some things you can do at home such as looking for leaks, and you can try compressing the dampers by getting someone to get on over the front or back end...

Re: Baker F1 help/info required

I can't help with the history as I'm new to sidecars myself. With my limited experience I'd agree that its a Baker, I have an F1 Baker (an earlier front engined one) that I'm restoring at the moment, and the swingarm construction looks similar. Before taking it apart, take loads of photos from diffe...

Re: Windle (350) on ebay

I'm no expert, I've never paraded anything, I do know the acu road racing licence application form has a box to tick for parading (and a box for passenger parading). Racing needn't be as expensive as you might think, especially if you only do a handful of one day meetings a year, even better if you ...

Re: Windle (350) on ebay

Whats the plan with it, parading, hillclimbing or racing, and are you putting it back to origional with a tz350 (not sure if you're aware but theres still plenty of parts readily available, the engine was further developed for use in Yamahas "banshee" quad that they made up until a few yea...

Re: F2 swingarms-why are they not longer?

I think with a longer swinarm it reduces the effects of the sprocket acting the lift the wheel off the ground. Can't visualize it in my head at the moment tho. I know the position of the pivot of the swingarm relative to the gearbox sprocket and wheel has the biggest effect on it, but often read tha...

F2 wheels

With wheels being not the cheapest of things, is there any reason why the chair wheel and rear wheel on a single sided swingarm can't come from lightweight formula racing cars, or would they still be too heavy? Does anyone run car wheels?

F2 swingarms-why are they not longer?

In the design of solos, one of the main criteria is to get the swingarm as long as possible, within the limits of wheelbaes of course, with gearboxs becoming stacked and the swingarm mount rammed right up againts the gearbox. This apparantly helps traction out of corners. On F2 sidecars that I've se...

Chassis Tubes and RHS's- dimensions and steel type

What size tube and rectangular (or square) hollow sections are typically used in an F2 chassis, in both the bikes part (headstock to swingarm pivot) and passenger/fuel tank platform, and what sort of wall thickness, plus what material - T45, chrome-moly or mild steel. No need to get your hacksaws ou...
